LABORATORY, HYGIENE AND EPIDEMIOLOGY SUBJECTS
Department of Laboratory, Hygiene and Epidemiology Subjects is a link of the unified system of education in National College of Pharmacy and Medicine "Raisa Pacalo", which blends theoretical, scientific and specialized aspects with pedagogical, teaching and methodical technologies.
The authority and attractiveness of the department is determined by consistent promotion of vocational education within national intellectual heritage linked to the European one.
Within these subjects students discover the meaning of the professional activity which is to investigate the correct chemical composition and cellular fluids of the human body with the purpose of obtaining information about the patient's health status, form of the pathology, treatment effectiveness.
Laboratory, Hygiene and Epidemiology subjects confirm laboratory diagnosis, providing a basis for laboratory assistants in the process of hematological, cytological, general clinical, biochemical, microbiological and parasitological laboratory investigations by using various modern techniques applied at present in laboratories. A laboratory examination depends on the professionalism of the laboratory assistant, which has the main role in laboratory diagnosis.
The efficient educational process contributes to specific professional skills training of hygienist assistant epidemiologist, and enables future professionals to plan and implement the correct measures for the prevention of various infectious and non-infectious diseases, strongly promoting healthy lifestyle of a family.
Laboratory, Hygiene and Epidemiology subjects will allow students to:
• Coordinate and implement at local level, medical activities included in national health programs on health protection;
• Monitor and evaluate the relationship between health and environmental risks, health and nutrition, occupational health and environment;
• Develop and suggest quality activities of environmental factors, according to European legislation and regulations;
• Develop proposals for regulating territorial public health activities in accordance with relevant legislation;
• Prepare professional reports on territorial health assessment in relation to various factors and contribute to national syntheses in the area;
• Establish rules of hygiene under specific national law and regulations;
• Prescribe remedial controlled units, establishing deadlines and responsibilities to eliminate hygiene deficiencies.
Epidemiology Study Course consists in the formation of functional theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary for future professionals in prevention of current infectious diseases in Republic of Moldova, professional skills training and team activity monitored by epidemiologists in the surveillance and control of infectious diseases including collection, processing, analysis and development of information necessary to develop preventive measures aimed at strengthening epidemiology and public health.
The impact of sanitary and epidemiological subjects is to develop decision-making skills regarding healthy lifestyle through the application of new knowledge, assess their attitudes and practice various models of healthy behavior in authentic situations, promotion among the population of healthy lifestyles, the prevention of high-risk diseases in the Republic of Moldova and preventing complications.
